Devil

Sawyer’s mom, Evangeline O’Neal, is amazing and one of my favorite secondary characters. He is fiercely loyal and protective of his charges, unable to rest until justice is served. Royce Locke is a bad boy who plays a little loose with the rules at times, but underneath his motorcycle & leather-loving exterior he is a big softie who just wants to cuddle. Sawyer’s instincts are sharp, and his banter with his partner, Royce Locke, even sharper. He is openly gay and not afraid to stand up for himself and his victims. He is smart, capable, and may or may not have a supermodel for a mom (he definitely does). I was hooked from the get-go.Ĭharacters: Sawyer Key is a by-the-book detective. The town of Savannah is as hot n’ steamy as I was hoping for (both in actual temperature and sexual tension) and I found myself racing to get to the end because I couldn’t wait to see what would happen. The characters are complex and interesting, and there’s a great cast of supporting players as well. If they want to crack the case in time they’ll have to find a way to work together.įirst Take: Exciting start to a new series by Aimee Nicole Walker! I really enjoyed this one. That way madness lies.īut this murder isn’t going to solve itself and as the clock ticks, both men are going to have to realize that there is no “I” in team. No, he definitely doesn’t want to put his key in Royce’s lock.

He keeps telling himself his desire to help Royce has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that he is also sexy as hell. So instead of being put off by Locke’s frostiness, Sawyer just feels that much more committed to warming him up to their eventual friendship. Unbeknownst to his partner, Sawyer has a soft spot for wounded things (just ask his cat), and Detective Royce Locke is the epitome of pent-up loss.

And reading through the victim’s six months’ worth of hate mail sure would be easier with a friend. What’s worse, the extremely chilly reception Sawyer gets from his new partner has him feeling he might be going it alone on this one. It doesn’t help that the deceased is a notoriously homophobic, women-hating white supremacist with a list of enemies a mile long. Summoned to a ghastly crime scene about two seconds into his first shift, he barely has time to get his head on straight before he hits the ground running. Plot: Still mourning the death of his husband two years ago, Sawyer Key thinks he might finally be ready for a new start– though his first day on the job as a detective for the Savannah PD doesn’t exactly go according to plan.
